Shay Mitchell and Matte Babel are expecting their second child together! The Pretty Little Liars alum confirmed the news on her Instagram page with 32.1 million followers.
In the pregnancy announcement, Shay shared a trio of topless photos showing her growing baby bump. The actress opened up in the caption about how she discovered she was pregnant shortly before her grandmother passed away. Shay described it as the “great cycle of life,” while adding it’s been “challenging.” At the end of the post, Shay added that she and her partner are “excited to meet” their new baby.
Shay and Matte already share a 2-year-old daughter Atlas Noa, who was born October 2019. At the time, Shay confirmed her daughter’s birth via Instagram. “Never letting go,” she wrote alongside a photo featuring her baby’s hand.
Shay had announced her first pregnancy online in June 2019, and only a few weeks later, she had an epic gender reveal featuring two Power Rangers, who faced off against each other before the pink Power Ranger won the fight, confirming the couple had a baby girl on the way.
Last year, the
You star revealed she was unsure when she would have a second child, at all. During the last episode of the third season of the Katie’s Crib podcast, Shay said that her challenging first pregnancy left her nervous about going through it again.
“I want [Atlas to have] a sibling so bad, but I don’t want to go through pregnancy again,” she explained, adding that it her first pregnancy took a big toll on her “mentally.”
Later in the interview, Shay revealed she endured postpartum depression following her daughter’s birth. She said that because a lot of people don’t talk about mental health post-pregnancy, she didn’t expect to struggle with mental health post-birth.
Shay echoed a similar sentiment in an interview with Us Weekly last year, where she admitted that having more children wasn’t a priority for her at the moment. “We’ll see what happens,” the Beis founder said at the time, admitting she and her partner weren’t “focused” on expanding their family.
Continuing on, Shay revealed that she didn’t love “the feeling” of being pregnant and wasn’t looking forward to doing it again, if at all. Towards the end of her pregnancy, the actress was experiencing very swollen hands, which she notes was “painful,” describing it has having a “constant” feeling of “pins and needles” in the palm of her hands.
As of now, there’s no word on when Shay is due to give birth to her second child.
