Drake Bell Welcomes First Child & Marries Janet Von Schmeling In Secret

Drake Bell is officially a father! The former Drake & Josh star confirmed he married Janet Von Schmeling and that they welcomed their first child together.

Last month, the former Nickelodeon star was photographed at Disneyland on his birthday. The actor was accompanied by his long-time girlfriend and was seen pushing a baby stroller with an infant inside. Drake wore a red and blue striped shirt, while the baby was matching in a bright red t-shirt. Both Drake and Janet could be seen wearing wedding bands in the image.

Following the publication of the photos, rumors started to swirl as to whether the on-and-off couple had welcomed a child together in secret and tied the knot. Drake put the rumors to rest the following day when he sent out a tweet confirming he was married and a father.

“I have been married for almost three years,” the message read, which was originally posted in Spanish, Us Weekly reports. “We are blessed to be the parents of a wonderful son.”

The former child actor did not reveal the birth date or name of his son. He also declined to reveal when he and Janet married. Janet is also an actor best known for her role as Tawny in 2017’s Painting Autumn. Drake appeared in two episodes of the show. Her other acting credits include Just Jenna (2016) and How to Survive High School (2015).

HITC adds that Janet works for a public relations company called Decibel Media Group, which lists Drake as one of their clients on their website. The couple has been linked since 2017 when they made their first public appearance.

Unfortunately, Drake has been embroiled in controversy recently, as he currently faces two criminal counts of attempted child endangerment as well as distributing inappropriate material to a minor. The actor pleads guilty to the charges on June 23rd, days before his son’s identity was revealed.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, the charges were initially brought against Drake in May when he was indicted. He was eventually released from custody the following month on a $2,500 bond. He will face sentencing later this month. The publication adds that the charges stem from an incident that occurred in December 2017. Drake had been in Cleveland, Ohio for a performance when he made contact with an underaged girl.

Tyler Sinclair, a spokesperson for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, provided details of the case to the media. The girl was 15-years old at the time, and filed a police report in October 2018, Us Weekly notes. The pair had encountered each other at Old River Road, a popular nightclub in Cleveland. However, Drake and the unidentified teen had reportedly been in contact before finally meeting in person at the 2017 concert.

“The investigation also revealed that months leading up to the concert, Bell sent the victim inappropriate social media messages,” Sinclair said.

Drake previously rose to fame while starring as Drake Parker on Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh. The show aired from 2004 to 2007.
